Viral infection: Colds are viruses that can cause nasal congestion. Since there are many different viruses when you get a cold you will get the accompanying symptoms until your bodies immune system gets rid of it. Treat symtoms with OTC meds from the pharmacy. See a doctor if headache, malaise, congestion last longer than 48 hours.
