Yes: Emphysema itself is characterized by destruction of the very small terminal bronchioles within our lungs...Which leads to decrease in lung function.

Yes: Emphysema is destruction of lung tissue, most often due to smoking. And once the tissue is gone, it is gone, unfortunately. So, if you are smoking, stop.
