Paroxysmal tachycard: We call paroxysmal tachycardia what you describe. Usually it is 'idiopathic' meaning 'we don't know why'. There are possible causes like smoking, drugs, hyperthyroidism and others so consult your doctor for evaluation and treatment if appropriate.
