May not need removal: The vast majority of ovarian cysts during reproductive life come and go on their own. There are various types of physiologic cysts like this. If it is a dermoid cyst or a benign tumor, it may need to be removed surgically. Rarely a malignant cystic tumor can be the problem, requiring surgery. Its extremely important to determine what it is, as best as possible, before deciding about removal.
