A member asked:

When can a newborn have their first bath? is there a certian amount of time you should wait after the birth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

When cord separates: In general a sponge bath is all baby needs in the begining. Try to keep umbilical cord dry. May use alcohol to keep base from getting infected or moist. After cord separates-then can give infant a bath. Don't bathe more than 2x/wk or will dry our skin.
