A 44-year-old member asked:

What would cause a child's fingernails and toenails to fall off?

Dr. Deborah Ungerleider
Pediatrics 38 years experience
This could be a: fungal infection, or if it's one or two nails only, could be from trauma. It would be best to discuss this with your pediatrician and have your child seen by his/her regular doctor or go to a dermatologist.
