Congenital heart: Primacor (milrinone) is a drug given by intravenous infusion to increase contraction strength of the heart while reducing blood vessels' resistance to cardiac output. It's used in the hospital and for outpatient infusion therapy of advanced heart failure. Dr. Mustard developed his operation to treat congenital transposition of the great vessels. It was the standard of care for many years.
