Cognitive impact : depends on age of onset, duration & blood levels. 5 μg/dl is evidence of lead exposure that needs attention. 45 μg/dl or > warrants chelation. Both parents' IQ's contribute 25% of cognitive potential; prenatal exposure to alcohol tobacco &/or drugs & environmental factors like poverty, diet & low parental involvement contribute, also. A low blood level, 5-10 μg/dl, decreases IQ by 3.9 points.
