A member asked:

What's the difference between osteoperosis and brittle bone disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Osteoporosis vs OI: Osteoporosis is when the bone becomes weak due to age and decreased calcium metabolism. The bone canal (central portion) becomes wide and thus the bone becomes weak. We usually see osteoporosis is postmenopausal women and older patients. Brittle bone disease is known as osteogenesis imperfecta and is a genetic disorder.
