Metza metz: The whole thing about antibiotics and tonsils is up for grabs. Depends on what you read. Keflex will do the job on the tonsil if it is truly needed. That's a judgement call that must be made by a doctor you trust. But I bet if it's really swollen and painful he decided to prescribe it on the presumption of a high probability of a bacterial infection. Hopefully it is and the keflex will work.
