No: Seven randomized clinical trials of anticonvulsants for the treatment of tinnitus failed to show they were effective. I would not advise taking these medications for tinnitus.

Tinnitus: Tinnitus is buzzing in the ear. It can be caused by ear wax, merniere's disease, benign intracranial hypertension etc. Lamictal has not been shown to be effective for treatment of tinnitus. Diamox (acetazolamide) is used for treatment of benign intracranial hypertension and thus may be helpful for tinnitus if it is caused by intracranial hypertension. Check with an ENT.
