Hygiene and shot: Getting the flu vaccine decreases the risk of developing the illness. Good hand washing is the best way to prevent exposure. If you have known exposure to an influenza patient then ostelmavir can be prescribed to miminize risk of developing the infection.

Get vaccinated: Best way to avoid getting the flu is to take the flu vaccine (shot or nasal squirt). Also, avoid direct skin to skin contact with people who have it. Influenza is often transmitted after a simple handshake. Hand washing after contact with other people can block the spread.
