Bipolar disorder: There are different ways to answer the question: as scientist :yes there are genetic linkage, receptor level correlation as psychiatrist :there are overlap symptoms and considered at times the spectrum illness with some symptoms been very prominent in bipolar that are core for schizophrenia.Have some medications that are helpful in both illnesses. However schizophrenia has some severe symptoms.

Bipolar: No link. Only disorder that has features of both is called schizoaffective disorder.
