Are home tests like ez detect or colocare sufficient to detect blood in stool prior to doctor visit if unsure?

Yes: Colocare and ez detect are home stool detection kits to determine if there is any small quantitiy of blood in stool, an amount that is not clinically apparent or in many cases missed by the guaiac stool test. This approach is not that accurate since blood is present in stool in small amts for many reasons unrelated to cancer and fails to detect those cancers not producing blood in the stool.
