Just had my wisdom teeth out today and puzzled as to why the oral surgeon would not give me antibiotics. a smooth double extraction. any reason?

Infection ?: Were you infected? Extraction of teeth without an infection does not automatically necessitate a course of antibiotics. Overuse of antibiotics can cause resistant infections.... be happy that your surgeon was conservative. If you need an antibiotic, you can always take one.

Wisdom tooth: If there is no infection present and a low risk of. Infection then you do not need antibiotics. Antibiotics are over used in medicine and should only be prescribe when necessary. Talk to your oral surgeon about your concerns, they are the best to answer a question about your specific case.
