YES.: Heavy lifting can cause strain of any of the involved muscles, tendons & ligaments. This can include muscles of the ribcage, shoulders, back and abdomen. I generally recommend "taking it easy", staying comfortably active and taking OTC pain relievers as needed for a few days. If the pain lasts longer than that,, gets worse or if new symptoms occur, medical care is recommended.
