A member asked:

Why shouldn't you take amitiza (lubiprostone) with a bowel obstruction?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

AmitizaTab: This drug is for the treatment chronic idiopathic constipation. If you have a bowel obstruction this has to be removed to allow your stool to go through the colon. If the obstruction is due only from stool compaction then the best way to clear the bowel is.by means of an enema or a suppository. If constipation persists then AmitizaTab may be of value but you should see your doctor to make that dec
