While the child's: Age influences what to see, what to explain, and what details to hold back, i can't see an alternative to isolate them from the truth and reality as ultimately being in their interest. If the treatment is successful or the cancer prognosis good, this is easy...If, not and arduous process leads to death, they learn to cope, to have compassion, and sorrow at seeing someone they love, go.
