Possible: Whenever there is any change in the vagina from any infection, the vaginal discharge composition and balance changes. This makes it easier to get Bacterial Vaginosis which causes the fishy odor.

Bacterial Vaginosis: Sometimes disturbances to the natural bacteria in your vagina (douching, irregular bleeding, unprotected sex, etc) can allow abnl bacteria like Gardnerella to overgrow and cause a fishy odor. It's not sexually transmitted, but can be treated w/ Metronidazole(Flagyl)/Clindamycin/Boric Acid. See your GYN for a prescription and be examined for other potential causes. Nothing urgent/dangerous though.

Is there an effective treatment to reduce genital herpes symptoms?

Treatment available: There is no cure for oral or genital herpes, but antiviral medications are helpful in preventing or clearing up herpes sores. Topical antiviral creams are somewhat helpful but not as helpful as oral medications. To treat an outbreak, one should start the medication as soon as possible to get the best effect. Preventing recurrences helps stop the spread of herpes to a spouse or partner.

From herpes virus: A person usually gets genital herpes from another person's fresh herpes sores. The other person may have sores on his or her genitals, lips, fingers, etc..., and transmit viruses by touching the uninfected person. Some infected persons (usually women) can occasionally transmit genital herpes even when they don't have visible fresh herpes sores.

Sexual contact: Sexual contact with a person with active herpes can spread the infection to a partner, either genitally or orally. Some people have an active lesion and don't know it. If you don't know your partner, use a condom!

No: No permanent treatment at this time. There are treatments to limit the outbreaks and risk of spreading the virus.
