I've been on minastrin 24 birth control for 3 months. i'm on my period now, but it's dark brown and very stringy instead of normal blood. why is this?

Minastrin: as the iron in blood oxidizes the color goes from bright red to dark red to brown. Think about when you have a cut, the brown is the scab that covers the wound. Because your flow is lighter, the transit time through your vagina is longer and gives the blood a chance to oxidize and therefore become brown.

MENSTRUAL BLOOD: Your period on the pill will be different; it will be shorter, lighter and sometimes so light it will just be spotting.

Low dose: This is quite normal on the low dose pills. Because they they have a low dose of estrogen they stimulate very little endometrial growth and this is all there is to slough off. Hope this helps.
