It's way more : complex than that. Read this explanation by The International Foundation For Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders: www.iffgd.org/site/gi-disorders/functional-gi-disorders/functional-abdominal-pain-syndrome. " Functional"= no disease of the GI tract, the peripheral nerves & blood vessels to it nor its supporting/ surrounding structures has been found. It does not mean the pain is not real.
