How far behind china are we with medical care?

Different ethos: China seems to be doing a good job of providing basic health care to all of its citizens in the parts of the country that are now rich, while the poor areas still depend on western medical missionaries. There is no "choice" if your unborn child is defective or if a couple is likely to pass on a genetic disease, and there are fewer elaborate treatments with little benefit.
