Controversial: 2 types of plastic are currently objects of concern: PVC which may contain phthalate plasticizers (labeled type 3) which may be endocrine/hormone disrupters; and polycarbonate, which is made from bisphenol-a, another endocrine disruptor (labeled type 7). —> altering the genetic structure of foods. More studies are needed to determine the facts. Meanwhile, it shouldn't hurt to nuke foods in microwave-safe glass/ceramic containers.
