No guarantees: Miscarriage, especially early in pregnancy is very common. Prior to readily available pregnancy tests, women often had miscarriages without being aware of the loss. Early miscarriages are most commonly the result of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus and are rarely related to a problem with the mother. Hopefully, a second pregnancy will be more successful, but there is no way to know for sure.
