More info?: First of all . by far , the most common cause of a dry mouth is MOUTH BREATHING...especially at night and due to nasal blockage. Other MAJOR causes are MEDICATIONS (especially anti-spasmodics and anti-depressants) Salivary Gland Problems (associated with some rheumatology issues) Hope this helps ..if not re-ask question with more info! Contact DDS: First see your dentist for a complete examination including radiographs to make sure that you have no periodontal disease or caries. Speak to your dentist about any medications that you are taking, which may cause a decrease in salivary flow- such as antidepressants. If the DDS feels it is needed, you may be referred to your MD for a workup.

Xerostomia see PCP: Xerostomia also called dry mouth. There are many causes of dry mouth, as nerve damage, medications, systemic disease, smoking, diet, just to name a few. There are many treatments for the problem. See your doctor for evaluation, diagnosis and proper treatment.
