Technically, HSV 1: Can infect the face outside the mouth, inside the nasal mucosa. If you have lesions near your eyes, it's best to be sure you don't have shingles or another infection. Impetigo can infect the entire face. I think you need to have a doctor take a look (if the eyes are involved, better make it today) and diagnose, culture and treat whatever it is you've got. Although it usually reoccurs in the same spot as the primary infection has happened.
