Why?: If you want to get pregnant and would like to stop your BCP, then that would be a fine day to stop. If you are sexually active, and do not want to get pregnant, you should not stop it.

How do you feel: about pregnancy? If you are trying to become pregnant, then it is safe and an excellent idea.

If you wish to get: pregnant, you may stop your BCP. If you do not want to get pregnant and have sex then stay on the pill.

Except pregnancy: If you mean is it safe to discontinue taking BCP all together, after completing a pack is the best time to stop taking the pill. It is safe, and most women continue to have normal periods afterwards. Women can be fertile the first month they stop taking the pill. If you are planning a pregnancy that is great, otherwise consider other birth control method.

Yes: It is safe but you may get pregnant. If that is what you want, it is not just safe but a good idea. You should start prenatal vitamins when you stop the birth control pills to reduce the risk of birth defects to the greatest extent possible. Hope this helps.

Yes, but: you could get pregnant the next time you have intercourse - unless you use an alternate form of birth control! That being said, women stop using birth control all the time for various reasons. I would call your Dr to let him/her know you are stopping the medicine so that they can make a note of it in your medical records.

Yes: In general it's never dangerous to stop using a contraceptive, unless a sexually active woman has a health condition that makes pregnancy particularly risky. Stopping the pill after menses is a good time. There may be some menstrual irregularity while the body adjusts to being off the pill.
