Hormone imbalance.: Hormone imbalance can cause this kind of problem. Usually it can last for one or two cycles. If it persists, after ruling out pregnancy, your doctor can try a course of hormone like Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 10 days and see if it controls the problem. If not, you will need more tests to find out what is causing the hormone imbalance.
