Not necessarily abnl: Spotting between periods is not unusual, and many women have this happen once in a while. It is usually not reason to be too concerned. Potential causes include: missing a BC pill, sexually transmitted disease (STD), vaginal infection or irritation. If you had unprotected sex (without a condom) you should be evaluated for STD; if vaginal discharge or itching, get checked for vaginal infection.
