Not typically: They can be useful for other pain that you have with the neuropathic pain and due to their relative safety a trial to see if they provide you some relief wouldn't be unreasonable. Codeine, unfortunately is an opioid medication and while it will give short-term relief of pain, neuropathic pain is often life-long meaning that increasing doses will likely be needed outstripping their usefulness.

See pain specialist: Opioids and NSAIDs have proven to be ineffective in treating neuropathic pain disorders. Patients with a neuropathic pain disorder may experience a significant reduction in pain with the use of TCAs, AEDs, SSRIs or SNRIs. See a pain management specialist for diagnosis and treatment.

Some: May help some, but there are drugs more specific for neuropathic pain.
