Not typically: They can be useful for other pain that you have with the neuropathic pain and due to their relative safety a trial to see if they provide you some relief wouldn't be unreasonable. Codeine, unfortunately is an opioid medication and while it will give short-term relief of pain, neuropathic pain is often life-long meaning that increasing doses will likely be needed outstripping their usefulness.
