Many factors: This is a very personal decision, based on culture, beliefs & family relationships; there is no right or wrong answer. A child should not be forced to watch if they are scared, & should have an adult specifically with them to reassure them & answer questions, besides mom's labor support person. In-between option is child in room, but up by mom's face or holding her hand (not watching birth).
