Probably NOT: Although multiinfarct dementia is not uncommon, alzheimer, s disease is the commonest cause of dementia. Of course one has to exclude the treatable causes such as tumors, thyroid disorders or vitamin deficiencies.

Yes...: If a person has vascular central nervous system disease, that is a risk factor and precursor for vascular dementia.
