Type of AML: "Myelomonocytic" means that, under the microscope, the abnormal leukemia cells look like a type of white blood cell called a monocyte, or an immature monocyte (monoblast). They also have characteristics of monocytes when stained with certain antibodies. The term might be used with a type of acute leukemia (AMML) or with a more chronic syndrome called CMML (chronic myelomonocytic leukemia).
