A member asked:

What is malignant mesothelioma? how is it treated?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rare but ominous: Cancer of mesothelioma cells that cover the internal organs, most often the pleura of the lungs and usually related to asbestos exposure and risk increased by smoking as well. Treatment is usually multi modality with best prognosis if spread is limited to make it amenable to surgical removal, but overall prognosis is poor but some minor improvements lately.
