What is cor pulmonale? how is it diagnosed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Right heart failure : Cor pulmonale refers to the altered structure (eg, hypertrophy or dilatation) and/or impaired function of the right ventricle that results from pulmonary hypertension that is associated with diseases of the lung, vasculature, upper airway or chest wall. Usually it's a clinical diagnosis but chest X-ray, echo, right heart cath, pulmonary function test can be abnormal, thus supporting diagnosis.
