Hormone dependent: The pituitary gland has 2 portion. Each portion secretes several different hormones. Therefore the symptoms would be totally dependent upon age and which hormone was being affected. This question is too open due to the nature of the gland and really cannot be answered. Sorry. Drj.

First suspect: Hormone imbalance can be a clue. Visual field defects can suggest a problem. Specific hormone activation can be done to look for expected normal reaction. Once a defect is suspected, then a detailed and directed MRI study can be done. Often very directed studies need to be done to confirm a defect of the pituitary is present. Surgery to the pituitary should be done only when studies confirm.
