Like a birth mark: Hemangioma in the skin is known as a 'strawberry mark' and is often found at birth. As many as 15 percent of people have a hemangioma in the bone and don't know it! Now that we do MRI we see these frequently as a bright spot in the vertebral body of the spine . They rarely need any treatment, when accurately diagnosed, but if they are very painful they can be treated with kyphoplasty.
