What does the doctor do if you have a kidney stone?

Depends: If the stone is small and not blocking the urine flow, it may be left alone. A small stone may be removed by cystoscopy using a basket to retrieve the stone. A stone can be pulverized by lithotripsy and some times removed by open surgery.
