What do doctors see when they look in your ears?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Canal skin & eardrum: Exam of the ear views the skin of the ear canal and the eardrum. Canal skin can be swollen and/or inflamed due to various types of infections which can be painful and respond well to treatment with ear drops. The eardrum can reveal many abnormalities indicating trauma, infection or other problems requiring treatment. The eardrum is normally translucent allowing an evaluation of the middle ear.
