Identify trigger: To determine the correct treatment, the cause of nasal congestion should be found. There is a wide range of triggers including allergies, deviated nasal septum, nasal polyps, chronic sinus infection, adenoid hypertrophy, medication side effects, etc. An allergist or ENT doctor can assist you by taking a thorough history and performing an exam and other tests as needed.

See ENT doctor: ENT doctor check you out if you have a deviated septum or enlarged adenoid or chronic sinus infections, etc. If findings are negative then you will be referred to an allergy specialist to see if allergies are the cause of your problem. Sometimes the medication side effect causes the congestion. So, it needs to be treated according to the cause , otherwise the treatment fails.
