A member asked:

What is the treatment for paraplegia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Paraplegia means weakness or paralysis of the lower extremities. Paraplegia can be caused by injuries to the spinal cord caused by trauma , infections, tumors and other less common causes. The treatment depends on the cause. If the cause is trauma, often the treatment will initially consist of high dose steroids as well as cooling of the body temperature to decrease further damage.
