Why? Likely few/none: Like all vitamins, single molecules found in stuff from nature which humans have long eaten & not maintained every single gene to manufacture out of other molecules (typically missing only 1 of many steps), vitamin C is routinely harvested in association with dominant other molecules, e.g. from fruit waste in industrial processing.
