Vertebral foramen: Most often, these names are used for the same thing... It is simply the space between the middle- to -posterior parts of the vertebral elements through which the nerves run. Compression in these spaces can lead to radiculopathy- or nerve root compression (leading to 'sciatica'). The pedicles are the tops- and bottoms- of this space.
