T12-L1: Most occur at junction between the thoracic(chest) & lumbar (lower back) -t12 & L1 as the biomechanics & shape of the spine tend to concentrate loads at this level - you have a fixed area of the spine locked from motion by rib attachments (thoracic) to a very mobile segment ( lumbar) yet with higher load carried as compared to mobile cervical (neck) to thoracic & there is a change of curvature.
