What are the differences between histussin cough medacine and hydrocodone pills?

Cough med & hydrocod: Hitussin just has a much lower strength of hydrocodone in it than hydrocodone pills (5-10mg strengths) used to treat pain. Hitussin contains 2.5mg of hydrocodone per teaspoon. It acts synergistically with the other ingredients to suppress annoying coughing.
