Similar: Both are type III hypersensitivity or allergic reactions that occur from antibody antigen complexes. The arthus reaction typically occurs after an injection into the skin and the reaction is vasculitis at the site. Serum sickness commonly follows an oral ingestion (like a drug) and symptoms are more general with fever, rash, joint aches, lymph node swelling and sometimes protein in the urine.
