Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) Metabolism: occurs by oxidation mostly in the liver but there is kidney involvement so both must be considered. Metabolism produces active compounds that require further metabolism by oxidation and deamination. CYP2D6 is a liver enzyme known to be involved and other medications requiring CYP2D6 may interact though this is usually not significant. Evaluation and monitoring by prescriber is essential.
