A member asked:

Are there any factors that could falsely lower a bilirubin blood test? (diet, donating blood, exercise, fasting)

Sure!: Improper collection of the blood sample, improper storage and handling of the specimen, and lab error are just a couple of factors. One abnormal blood test result should always be confirmed. One lab result by itself, is of little value. but needs to be considered along with other lab results and the condition of the person being tested.

Not really: Why do you ask? There are plenty of causes of being yellow but not having jaundice -- I used to eat a lot of carrots. Some meds including atabrine will make a person yellow. There's no really problematic methologic interferences with today's bilirubin assays. One causes of possible error is a switched specimen or one left in sunlight.
