Probably safe but ?: Intramuscular Vitamin D appears to be safe but no significant advantage over oral Vitamin D for patients who don't have a problem with malabsorption. In a nursing home population given IM Vitamin D3 a small number of patients has transient hypercalcemia(too much blood calcium) and mildly increased calcium excretion in the urine (which might raise the risk of developing renal stones).
