Viral infection : Herpangina is a viral infection that causes painful blisters and sores in the mouth. It is usually self limiting and goes away by itself. Using mouth rinses with a numbing chemical (lidocaine)may help.

For kids: Kids usually have this virus and it is self limiting. In other words there are no effective treatments for this. Antivirals don't do well against it nor antibiotics. Adults have much less to worry about with this enterovirus.

Herpangina is a viral infection which causes small blisters (vesicles) that quickly rupture to form small ulcers. Most common in youngsters; however, Herpangina has potential to affect all ages. The virus is usually spread by mouth- via the saliva. Symptoms include fever, headaches, and terrible sore throats. Oral meds. acetaminophen or ibuprofen and topical ontiments like benzocaine.
